If I thought August was jam-packed, I had clearly forgotten about September!
I’m planning 3 short posts for September to make up for the lack of posting during August. So here we go:
Post 1: For this month, I will take a short look back at Art on the Prom and share information about workshops and exhibitions coming up during the autumn term.
Post 2: Experimenting with cyanotypes - what I did and how it went.
Post 3: Collaging with Gelli-printed papers - how I like to use my printed collage papers in my sketchbooks and how to make a simple concertina sketchbook.
We are finally back at school after a lovely, long summer break. All those September feelings of anxiousness, excitement and the opportunity for a fresh start are here. I’ve got my new diary out and I’m looking at lots of events that are coming up during the Autumn term already.
Next week, I have my first of two workshops at Mrs. I. Crafts. We will be experimenting with Gelli-printing to make collage papers. This workshop is ideal for both beginners and those with some experience.
We will be learning how to use the Gelli plate, print with plant materials, and create textures and patterns using a variety of materials and stamps. The possibilities are endless!
Keep an eye out for another post this month featuring a demonstration on how to use your Gelli plate prints to create a collaged concertina sketchbook.

A Good Day Out at Art on the Prom.
Last month was all about getting ready for Felixstowe’s Art on the Prom. It was a great opportunity to meet people, showcase my works, and let people know about my in-person workshops.
Art on the Prom is an annual pop-up art and craft fair, featuring over 90 artists exhibiting and selling their creations.

It was a hot and windy day, but neither the heat nor the wind kept the crowds away. My stall was bustling with visitors, and there was lots of interest in my workshops and artwork. It was lovely to chat to folk about all things arty, sharing my process, listen to their experiences and enjoying good conversation.
I saw lots of familiar faces, of those who had attended my workshops and visited past exhibitions, and it was nice to catch up with them.
Dates for the Diary:
In October, I will be joining four other local artists for an exhibition of our work at The Craft House in Woodbridge. I’ll be exhibiting alongside local artists Susan Bowerman, Carolyn Hinchliffe, Tracy Hetherington, and Sally Maddams. A range of paintings, ceramics, textiles, and mixed media creations will be available to view and purchase. It’s a fantastic opportunity to pick up some early Christmas presents and see some of my new pieces.
